On January and 26th and January 30th, the finals for the THS Poetry Out Loud Recitation contest were held. The following Students competed after advancing from their classroom competitions: Joni Beckman, Emma Bloemer, Olivia Copple, Anabelle Habing, Martin Habing, Carly Kingery, Elayna Lee, Ava Ruholl, Anna Probst, Korynn Westendorf, and Allie Wilhelms,
Each participant recited two poems which they hand selected in front of a panel of judges.
The runner up is Anabelle Habing. The Winner is Ava Ruholl. Both Winners will advance to the Regional competition at Parkland College on February 15th.

THS High Honor and Honor Roll for the second quarter.
THS scholar bowl traveled to Fairfield for the Turnabout Tournament. They played 7 matches in one day. Gus Siemer made the All Tournament Team placing second individually with 43 tossups.

Lady Shoes and Wooden Shoe basketball players had the privilege of visiting Kindergarten and 1st Grade classrooms. Players got to read to the students and joined them on activities.

Each month, upperclassmen are recognized for their active participation in the school community, their academic efforts, and their kindness and respect towards others. These students are named Student of the Month. The Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Teutopolis Education Foundation.
Teutopolis High School January Rookies of the Month, Claresa Ruholl and Anthony Roley, with Country Financial representative Hank Niebrugge. Each month, underclassmen are recognized for their active participation in the school community, their academic efforts, and their kindness and respect toward other. These students are named Rookies of the Month. The Rookie of the Month program is sponsored by Hank Niebrugge Country Financial.
Ivan Wernsing became our first ever member of the 1,000 pound club. He benched 315, squated 405 and power cleaned 280. Congratulations Ivan!!

Congratulations to THS Homecoming King and Queen, Gus Siemer and Taylor Bueker, crowned at the Homecoming game Tuesday, Dec. 6. The Homecoming dance was held at Teutopolis Grade School on December 10, celebrating the theme "A Night in New York". It was a beautiful event enjoyed by many THS students.
Students in Mrs. Schrock’s Introduction to Agriculture class are learning about Record Keeping and are playing Monopoly to practice their skills. Students are documenting their moves, money spent and earned, and properties they purchase.
Congratulations to these THS Students for making ILMEA district band and/or choir. On November 19th these students represented Teutopolis by going to Eastern Illinois University for District five. Senior Band: Gavin Buening, Casey Deters, Isaac Vahling, and Allie Drees. Senior Orchestra: Anthony Roley. Senior Choir: Bailey Niccum, Joni Beckman, Ben Esker, and Gage Wendt. Treble Choir, Elayna Lee.
In addition, Four students will be representing Teutopolis High School in Peoria at All-State: Gavin Buening, Bailey Niccum, Ben Esker, and Isaac Vahling. These students will travel to Peoria for three days and perform at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, January 28th. Organizers say this is the highest high school band accomplishment, and is the equivalent of any athlete or sports team reaching State.
The Teutopolis High School Marching Band placed first in both competitions this fall in Vandalia and Effingham.
