Teutopolis CUSD #50 Parent, Community and Staff,
As shared following the March 17th Board of Education meeting, we are preparing to begin a reskin project at Teutopolis High School Cafeteria and Unit Office. Starting on or around April 8, 2025, licensed contractors will carry out asbestos abatement work, primarily focused in the Unit Office, with minor work involving certain water lines in the THS Kitchen and Cafeteria. This project reflects our ongoing dedication to maintaining a safe, healthy, and modern facility for the benefit of our students, staff, and community.
Please note, the linked letter serves as the official notification for this project. Be assured that all impacted areas will be securely closed and sealed off for the duration of the work. We are adhering to the highest safety standards in line with Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines, including site monitoring by an environmental specialist and the district architect and engineer.
Throughout the duration of the project, Unit Office staff will temporarily relocate to the High School Office. While phone numbers will remain the same, we kindly ask that any Unit Office visitors report to the High School Office. Additionally, access to some paper records may be limited during the abatement period, as most vault items will remain securely in place.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we undertake this work to enhance our facilities. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Unit Office at 217-857-3535. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work together to create the best possible environment for our school community.
Respectfully,
Matt Sturgeon, Supt.

This summer, the district will renovate the 1972 THS Cafeteria/Unit Office/Gym East Entry, including a reskin of the structure, interior upgrades like HVAC and a permanent salad bar/concession stand, and new casework to celebrate our Wooden Shoe success. Secure entry modifications are also slated for the THS/TJHS Offices. These projects will be fully funded through district reserves. Check out the renderings provided to see a glimpse of the exciting changes coming soon!
