The fourth grade class took a field trip to see the movie Wonder. The students read the book by R.J. Palacio this Fall, and it has become a favorite for many! “When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind."

Our very own 3rd graders from Teutopolis Grade School made some special ornaments to decorate the Teutopolis State Bank Christmas tree. Making these ornaments helped us get the holiday season started!
School Menu Revision
All schools in Teutopolis Unit 50 will be swapping lunch menus for Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
Mrs. Probst's class rocks! The kids band performed with their homemade instruments for the preschoolers.
This week Mrs. Buhnerkempe's students were studying what makes sound in their reading story, Beth and the Band. They made old fashioned phones to vibrate string to carry the sound from mouth to ear. They stopped the vibration by pinching the string to see if sound still traveled and found that it did not! They were amazed how their voices can travel!

Students in Mrs. Bushue’s second grade class used popcorn to make scientific predictions. They experimented with the buoyancy and weight of popped and unpopped kernels. Our future scientists!
Mrs. Drees' reading class ended their reading selection with a pie tasting! The story was about a young girl who created a business selling pies during the California gold rush! Yum! Yum!

In conjunction with the Wild, Wild West Book Fair, Farmweld, Inc. purchased books for each classroom teacher to put in his/her class library! Over 80 titles were added all together! Spiders don't scare these first graders! They enjoyed a week full of reading nonfiction spider books and completing activities that pertained to these eight-legged creatures.
In honor of Veterans Day, our fifth grade students had the local Teutopolis American Legion members and some family members come to speak to the students about their experiences. The fifth grade classes learned about letter writing while addressing letters to troops currently deployed through a program called Operation Gratitude. In addition, Mrs. Meyer's fifth grade students wrote detailed essays about the life of a veteran that they interviewed. The students loved hearing the veterans stories, and sharing their letters with the soldiers.
Preschool students had so much fun at the Stang Arts studio! They can't wait to go back!
