TEUTOPOLIS PRESCHOOL ROUND UP
FREE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS
Each year, the Teutopolis School District and the Department of Early Childhood conduct Preschool Round Up for children from birth to five years of age. FREE developmental screenings are offered to give parents information on how their child is developing in the areas of speech, language, concepts and motor skills. Vision and hearing screenings are also provided.
This year, Preschool Round Up will be held at the Teutopolis Grade School, 309 East Main Street, Teutopolis, Illinois on February 11th, February 12th and February 13th, 2020. Parents should call Barb Weber at 217-857-3232 for an appointment or to find out more information regarding the preschool program. There is no charge for the screening. The screening will last approximately one hour and a signed parent/guardian permission is required. Walk-ins are always welcome.
This is not Kindergarten Registration. This screening is recommended for all children and required for all who would like to enroll in the Teutopolis School District’s tuition-based preschool program the following school year.

Media Release Regarding Phase II Project at Teutopolis High School
Submitted by Deborah Philpot, Interim Superintendent, Teutopolis C.U.S.D. #50
Teutopolis CUSD #50 is pleased to provide a statement on the upcoming asbestos abatement project at Teutopolis High School. First and foremost, as Superintendent I hold paramount the Safety, Health, and Welfare of the public and certainly of our children and staff who attend Teutopolis High School. To believe otherwise would undermine the spirit and intent of Section 105 ILCS 5/3-14.22 of the Illinois School Code which I am endeared to uphold.
The asbestos work is the first order of work that will occur this year to allow for the timely demolition and rebuilding of the older parts of our school. The planning for this phase actually started in June of 2019 after the asbestos abatement of a very similar project in two of our classrooms. The Asbestos Abatement Plan (Plan) for 2020 was designed by an Illinois Licensed Professional Engineer, publicly bid-out per the Illinois Complied Statues, and awarded to a contractor licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to perform work of this nature in public and private schools in Illinois.
The project targets the oldest building on our campus, a 1929 structure which has reached its life expectancy and deteriorated to the point that rehabilitation would be costly and not in line with the Building Program implemented by our Architect. The Plan that the contractor will follow will be enforced by an IDPH licensed third-party representative acting on behalf of the District, the Architect, and the Department of Public Health; and its enforcement will keep our buildings clean and safe for our community and children.
